Tackers Discover Sailing
‘Tackers’ is the Australian Sailing program for beginners aged 7-12 years.
We own a fleet of sturdy plastic dinghies called Optimists which are ideal for teaching youngsters to sail – easy to rig, light to launch and lots of fun. Kids can sit in a pair or go solo. Our instructors show them manoeuvres on land first, then tow them by RIB in groups of 6 to a quiet patch of water for simple exercises.
There are three levels:
- Tackers 1 – Having fun!
- Tackers 2 – Tips & Tricks!
- Tackers 3 – Sailing fast!
Course Overview
Our Tackers Courses are held in 8-week blocks during each school term on Sunday mornings
Tackers 1 : 0800-1030
Tackers 2 : 0800-1030
Tackers 3 : 1000-1300
These courses are a great opportunity for sailors to have fun each weekend and keep improving their on-water skills.
School Holiday Camps
Our Tackers Holiday Camps are several days of on-water fun for 7 - 12-year-olds. During these camps sailors will have the opportunity to learn new skills, make some new friends and explore Sydney Harbour from one of the Club's Tacker Optimists.
