The Varuna Trophy commemorates the classic wooden yacht after whom the trophy is named, but also the gentleman yachtsman Dr John Musgrove. ‘Doctor John’, a mentor to many up and coming Sydney sailors, be they in his crew or sailing on rival yachts. He was a member of the Squadron for 64 years.
The Varuna Trophy is awarded to the winner of the final summer season race on 29 March contested by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in each division’s main season’s PHS point score and the Etchells & Yngling Mini Regatta PHS series.
