The Sayonara Cup, scheduled for the 15th-19th January, has been postponed, with the intention of proceeding at a later date this year.

The RSYS has received a lot of interest in this prestigious, historic match-racing event, particularly from the additional clubs receiving an invitation for the first time in the Cup’s 120-year history and from the five Royal Clubs - its traditional trustees.

The decision is primarily to afford all interstate challengers proper time to familiarise themselves with the event and to properly prepare, in consideration of the original deed’s traditional six-month notice.

The additional time also enables the interstate clubs ample time to conduct their own deciding matches to determine which club will represent each state and to afford the winning club the time to optimise their entry.
