Lowell North J/70 Twilight Regatta

Team Juno (L-R) Max Brennen, Will Sargent, Reg Lord, Paige Caldecoat and Eddie Reid.

Ten J/70s contested the Lowell North J/70 Twilight Regatta hosted by Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron December 4-7, 2023.

Each evening consisted of 4 races starting from 5:30pm. The first night was a gentle ENE breeze up to 12 knots. Tuesday night tested all crews with the wind NNE 18-20 knots, gusting to 24 but felt like much more with an out going tide against the wind. The remaining two evenings the wind was back down to 8-12 knots.

Each race in the series was approximately 20 minutes long. It was great starting practice and an opportunity to work on boat handling with each race being a two lap windward/leeward course.

CYCA’s Team Juno helmed by Reg Lord, and with Max Brennen, Will Sargent, Paige Caldecoat and Eddie Reid onboard with won the event. Second was Sam Haynes’ Celestial (CYCA) and third Karyn Gojnich’s Jabiru (RSYS).
