ACT Teams Racing Championship - 22nd & 23rd February 2025





Over the weekend, two teams of youth sailors from RSYS competed in the ACT Teams Racing State Championships in Canberra on Lake Burley-Griffin.

The teams achieved 2nd place and 10th place overall. Coached by Gretel Payne, Team White consisted of Rory Miller, Edward Payne, Massimo Henderson, Jasper Fifield, Isobel Payne and Isabel Yu. Team Blue consisted of Olivia Lee, Abigail Tattersall, Kieran Davey-Webb, Orlando Watts, Francis Watts, Lily Zahab, Thomas Beatty and Alister Kernaghan.

In a 3-boat v 3-boat format, teams racing tests the competitors rules knowledge and teamwork to win races in 2-person boats. Challenging light wind conditions tested the sailors fleet racing, boat handling and speed skills, as well as their strategy. The competitors had amazing support from parents the whole weekend, with an endless supply of food and a BBQ.

Andrew Lee took incredible photos of the team! Despite competing in these hard conditions all weekend, the teams were very happy to come away with these impressive results.
