Red Shirts Mark 21 Years of Support for the Hardy Cup

Twelve Squadron Members fronted up again last week to support the four day Hardy Cup International Youth Match Racing Regatta. 2025 marks the 21st year these volunteers have supported the Hardy Cup, dressed in their distinctive Red Shirts.

The Red Shirts perform a range of valuable support roles including cooking breakfast for the approximately 50 sailors, umpires and coaches, managing the umpire and coaching vessels, delivering lunches on water to the competitors, assisting with the docking of the competitor boats and cooking a well earned sausage for the competitors at the end of a long days sailing.

When asked why they don the Red Shirt they say they it as their opportunity to put something back into the Club. Also, they appreciate the professional and enthusiastic support provided by the Squadron staff. Finally, the Red Shirts are delighted to see many young sailors competing in their first international sailing event. The Red Shirts continue to contribute significantly to the success of Hardy Cup through fostering a spirited and welcoming atmosphere for all involved.
