Over the weekend The Royal Yacht Club Tasmania hosted the Australian Sailing Open and Youth Match Racing Championships. Our Squadron Keelboat Program had two teams participating in the event with some fantastic results.

Skipper Xavier McLachlan and his crew James Hayhoe, James Hopkins and Raphael McLachlan, were awarded 'Youth Champions' in first place. This is the first time in 23 years that an RSYS youth team has won this event, making this Xavier’s second history making result for this year.

Skipper Thomas Rees, along with Kelly Su and Isobel Payne, sailed strong as a newly formed team and were awarded the bronze medallion while RSYS Members Max Paul and Brooke Wilson placed third in the Open category. Congratulations to all.

We can’t wait to see more of our SKP teams competing over the summer period, building up to the Hardy Cup in February 2025.
