‘The Squadron’s art heritage’ talk

Members and their guests are invited to an Art History Soirée to learn more about our Club’s wealth of marine art treasures.

Join us in the Neutral Bay Verandah for welcome drinks and canapés, followed by a presentation, after which we invite you to dine in the Carabella Room.

Our speaker is Club Member Robyn Coleman, an Exhibiting Member of the Royal Art Society NSW and an avid researcher into our Club’s paintings.

Robyn will discuss the genesis and the artistic merit of four paintings which hang in our clubhouse, and explore their significance in the context of the Squadron’s early history and marine art of the era.

The paintings under examination are:

Gypsy Moth IV by John Allcot
Eclipse by Oswald Brierly
Shamrock V by Peter Anderson
Rovers Bride by Jack Earl.
