Season’s Greetings from the Commodore

Season’s greetings to everyone. What a year we have just lived through and one that we hope never to experience again. As we embark upon the festive season and seeing family and friends face-to-face again, locally or overseas, we are all blessed with living in our island country bounded by seas. It is enormously gratifying to see our Squadron buzzing with Members and their families, whether playing Bridge in the new chairs, dining in the CCA and Carabella Room, or on tenders full of sailors heading out to enjoy a day or evening of sailing on our magnificent harbour. Our calendar is filled with festive events and Members’ private functions. Thank you for your support after a most challenging year.

There is much to look forward to as we enter 2022. Not only impressive vaccination rates but we will host many on water events: the Ladies of the Sea Regatta in early January, the Hardy Cup and the Etchells Milson Silver Goblets in February. Twilight racing recommences Friday 7 January, the Saturday Summer series plus mini regatta on 15 January. Additionally, the Cruising Division have arranged an excellent speaker dinner for 2 February covering the story of the Tasman Map – I encourage you to invite friends and make a booking.

On behalf of the Flag Officers and General Committee, I would like to wish all Members a safe and relaxed festive season and hope you enjoy a happy New Year. And to those competing in yachting events, embarking on travels or remaining in your postcode, travel safely – fair sailing and following seas.

Happy Christmas all,
Christian Brook
