Race Week – and they’re off!

Australia‚Äôs largest offshore regatta, Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, commenced on 21 August. A number of RSYS Members are amongst the record fleet of 252 boats. All sizes of boats are involved, from 30 metres down to 6.5 metres, single hulls to triple hulls, cruising and foiling boats all accounted for. 

Layday came early on day 3, despite best efforts by the race committee to get some divisions racing out on the Eastern course area, in the Turtle Bay vicinity.

The fleet of cruisers and cruising multihulls waited patiently offshore for close to four hours, filling in time swimming, sunbaking, barbequing and following three humpback whales which obligingly glided close enough for photo opportunities read more here.

Several Squadron Members are competing in either a six or seven race series. Here are the results going into race 3.

Ichi Ban – Matt Allen – Rating Racing Division A – IRC 2nd, ORCio 1st
