Our thriving community of sailors cheerfully sailed through drizzle and the lightest breeze in last night’s final race of the series. Our generous sponsor Paspaley showcased a delightful display of pearl jewellery of the most exquisite artistry and our sailors enjoyed trying on the pieces. 210 Members and their guests then enjoyed dinner and cheered the series and trophy winners announced by Tuesday Twilight Co-ordinator Karyn Gojnich.
Congratulations to Penny Scardifeld and Margaret Houston of Cavatina (above) for winning the Jan Rowed trophy for the Ladies non-spinnaker pointscore. Nikki Shannon, Vivace came second and Eve Sheppard from Trilogy third. Jan Newland and Megan Howard on Yertle won the spinnaker pointscore and the Lady Helm trophy. Each skipper was presented with a pair of Paspaley pearl earrings.
In the Mini Series, Cavatina won the Gypsy Moth IV trophy and Angelica Veness on Miss Pibb (below), took out the Bluebird trophy donated and presented by Joyce Warn.
Paspaley also awarded pearls to the winners of the lucky draw prizes. To be eligible, boats had to have sailed in 75% or more of the races. The recipients were: Sandy Lawson, Rapunzel; Sara Ladd, Evie; Anna Connery, Enigma and Jill Hammond, Kookaburra.
We thank Paspaley for their generous support of the 2017/18 Tuesday Twilight series – their third with RSYS – which has contributed to the significant increase in participation. This season we welcomed 11 new boats to the fleets and placed 50 enthusiastic female sailors across 20 boats. A big thank you to all of the boat owners and skippers that undertook to mentor the newcomers.
The 2018/19 series will commence on 13 November 2018. See you then!
