We would like to announce that Chris Stone has resigned as Sailing Manager of the Squadron in order to relocate to the UK where he will assume a similar role at the Royal Ocean Racing Club.
Chris has been with the Squadron since February 2013, and during his tenure the RSYS hosted two World Championships: the Farr 40s and Flying Dutchman, the Extreme Sailing Series, as well as several Australian Championships and many State titles. He was instrumental in the purchase of the Elliott 7s, oversaw significant changes to the training program and worked behind the scenes to develop the Club website and accounts portal.
Chris’ last day at RSYS is this Friday, 1st December.
We would like to announce that Johan Hedberg has accepted the position of Sailing Manager at the Squadron and started on Tuesday, 28th November.
Johan has an extensive background in the corporate sector and more recently as the General Manager at the Royal Swedish Yacht Club where he looked after the Sailing Program and focused on new membership and revenue opportunities.
On behalf of the Flag Officers, Committee Members and Staff, we thank Chris for his contribution to our Sailing community over the past four years and at the same time we extend a warm welcome to Johan.
