J/70s are growing in popularity across Sydney Harbour, and over the next fortnight, will contest two regattas. They are also looking forward to the class Nationals, which were postponed last year and will be held later in the season.
RSYS will host the Lowell North Memorial Regatta from Monday 10 – Thursday 13 January and racing will commence at 5pm each afternoon. Seven boats have entered, including Squadron boats Jackal, Swish and Maybe J who will line up against boats from the CYCA and DSC, Juno, Celestial, Vamos and YKnot.
This event affords the boats and crews the perfect opportunity to tune up for the NSW State Championship to be held from 22-24 January, again at the the Squadron.
The J70s have been active since lockdown with a Spring Twilight event held at our Club in November/ December which attracted six boats. The fleet expects to take delivery of up to six new boats and there are hopes that the Nationals will attract a fleet of approximately 20.
