Cruising Division 'On Wine-Dark Sea'

Starting on 23 May 2018 18:20:00
Cruising Division Presentation
'Sydney to Darwin on Wine-Dark Sea'

Members Peter Lowndes and Sarah Goddard-Jones sailed their yacht Wine-Dark Sea from Sydney to Darwin in 2017. During the voyage they put 4000NM under the keel in eight months. That’s not fast, but that’s not what cruising is about.

In this presentation they will talk about living aboard and visiting the reefs and islands of the East Coast. Peter and Sarah will share details of route planning, weather, selecting anchorages, technology available to assist, as well as talking about some of their favourite stopovers. It wasn’t always sunshine and blue water as boats, like houses, often require repairs and maintenance, so they will also tell you about how major repairs were managed away from the home port.
