The Hardy Cup 2008, hosted by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron from the 10th to 14th February, has once again attracted a high calibre of young national and international match racers.

Ray “Rock” Stone is a happy man today after taking out the 2007 Sydney 32OD National Championships on Sydney Harbour.
Sailed as a four day twilight series, with two races per night, out of the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron these Nationals attracted eight competitors.

The Annual Squadron Cruise is held each year in the Easter School holidays and is open to spinnaker, non-spinnaker and cruising entries.
The destination varies but in 2008 the Cruise will go to Pittwater.

Former RSYS Commodore, Life Member and class veteran Norman Longworth showed his great harbour knowledge and skill in the Dragon class by winning the State championship in Karabos VIII, sailed over eight heats, three the previous weekend and one each evening during the Twilight Regatta.
Longworth and his crew of Dick Sargeant and David Bain sailed Karabos VIII to an outstanding series of 3-6-1-1-2-5-7-1 to finish on 19 points after one discard.

24 women from 5 different sailing clubs took part in this year’s AUSPAC
Regatta on 17/18 November. The objective of the regatta for the last 2 years has been to promote women’s sailing and of course sailing Ynglings. On both counts the event proved very successful. A half day of class room theory was followed by on the water training in some very testing conditions (lulls of sub 5 knots gusting to 20 with the odd 360 degree wind shift when close to land!).
Sunday entailed 6 short course races with spinnakers, ably run by the mighty Catnapa Race Committee (Hamish & Geoff Jarrett) and duck crew of Peter Lowndes & Trent Goldsack.
