Club Elliott 7 Keelboats

In February 2015 the Club took delivery of its four brand new Elliott 7 club boats. The Elliott 7 is an exciting, modern, dynamic, state of the art 7 metre keelboat. These boats are proven all round performers and ideal for use in class racing, match racing, open racing, club training programmes, keelboat training, Youth development and Learn to Sail programmes.

 

As these new boats suit a wide range of abilities, they are ideal for Club Members looking to further their sailing and increase their enjoyment of sailing with fellow Members and their guests.

As we move into the 2015-2016 season, the Club has opened up new opportunities for Members to use our fleet with a view to getting as many people as possible on the water enjoying sailing. The opportunities for the season are:

      
 
 
Friday Night Elliott Twilights 
 

The Intermediates Committee has agained secured the use of the four Club Elliott 7s for the 2016-17 Friday Night Twilight series, free of chargeThe programme is designed to introduce Intermediate Members to the social side of racing at the RSYS and enjoy the incredible facilities our Club has to offer. 

The racing will include:

  • A single scratch start for all four Elliotts at 6:00pm to allow entrants as much time as possible to leave work on a Friday. 
  • Non spinnaker racing to allow non sailors to participate in the social setting.
  • Up to five people per boat.
  • A bottle of wine for the scratch winner of each race in which four Elliotts compete. 

After the Friday Night Elliott Twilight race come up to the Sunset Bar on the level 5 rooftop, which will be open on Friday evenings during daylight saving, or have a meal in the Careening Cove Anchorage.

NB - Should all boats be booked or a clash of booking occur the sailing office will confirm an alternate booking time. Reminder that 1 booking per intermediate member per week.

Tuesday Ladies Twilights

Similar to the Friday Twilights, the four Club Elliott 7s are now also available for female sailors in the Tuesday Ladies Twilight, free of charge. The programme is designed to expand female Member sailing opportunities and expand the social side of racing at the RSYS. 

The racing will include:

  • A combined division of Elliott 7s and Ynglings. 
  • Relaxed setting where the emphasis is on participating and learning.
  • Up to five people per boat.
  • Prizes for the winner of the division at the conclusion of racing. 

After the Tuesday Ladies Twilight race enjoy a meal in the Careening Cove Anchorage with your crew and other competitors prior to the evening prize giving.

Saturday Mini Regatta Sportsboat Division Racing

In the 2015 RSYS introduced a Sportsboat Division to the Mini Regattas. This is a great opportunity to extend your competitive sailing in a dynamic and exciting division on Saturdays throughout the season. We anticipate Elliott 7s from other clubs will participate, as well as a group of similar boats such as J70's, VXones and Vipers.

The Sportsboat Division racing will include:

  • Separate Sportsboat division start on Mini Regatta 'B' days.
  • Up to three races a day of windward/leeward style of racing.
  • SMS handicap results as well as one-design results for those with five or more in one-design class.
  • Prizes for the winner of the division at the conclusion of racing.
