Squadron member Julian Farren-Price with his Cookson 12 About Time and RSYS SOPS Division 3 competitor Zephyr, the Farr 1020 of James Connell and Alex Brandon, have scored divisional wins in the CYCA’s SOPS spring series which ended last Saturday.

About Time
About Time won Division 1 in both the IRC and PHS categories with a 7-2-1-1 scorecard, taking out the final spring race after a close race with the Beneteau 44.7 Mr Beak’s Ribs (David Beak).
Zephyr, whose owners are members of Balmain Sailing but regular supporters of the RSYS SOPS Division 3 races, won the PHS category with a 1-3-4-3 score and finished second Howard & Susan Piggott’s Sydney 34.7 Brilliant on a countback in IRC.
After one discard, Brilliant and Zephyr each finished on 4 points from placings of 6--2-1-1 for Brilliant and 1-1-2-2 for Zephyr. The tie-breaker was the fact that Brilliant beat Zephyr in race four.
Another RSYS SOPS Division 3 entrant, Phil and Elesa Bennett’s King Billy finished fourth in the CYCA SOPS spring series.
After seven heats of the Squadron SOPS Division 3 Main Series, Zephyr leads the IRC scoring on 6 points, with six wins and a third. Tim and Adrian Cox’s Soundtrack is in second place on 17 points and Ticket of Leave (Max Prentice) third on 18 points.
Under PHS results, Zephyr leads with 13 points from King Billy on 21 and Double Trouble (Steve Wyatt) on 25 points. Double Trouble placed first in Saturday’s PHS race for the Squadron SOPS fleet boats. – Peter Campbell
