John Bertrand new Etchells World Champion

Australia has regained the Etchells World Champion with John Bertrand winning the title in Ireland from Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Ante Razmilovic and fellow Victorian Damien King.

Two RSYS members competed, Douglas Flynn finishing 27th overall and Jan Muysken 34th overall.


The RSYS will host the Etchells Worlds in 2012 as part of the Squadron’s sesqui-centenary celebrations.

David Chapman wins British Youth Match Racing Nationals

ISAF 54, David Chapman and his team representing the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron have taken out the GBR Youth Match Race Nationals with a clean sheet.

David with his crew, Mike Edmonds (RNZYS) and Adam Piggott (Hamble) showed why they were seeded number 1 with a perfect scorecard in the round robin to take out the event.

The racing was tough and as the wind picked up on the final day to 22-25kts the race committee made the decision to finish the regatta at the completion of the round robin.

Nathan Outerridge new Moth European Champion

The Australian Sailing Team's Nathan Outteridge has won the 2010 Moth European Championship in Switzerland, just days after wrapping up the 49er class at the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth, England.

Outteridge’s win in the Moth class comes off the back of his second place at the 2009 Moth World Championship in the United States with the Australian one of the rising stars in the exciting class.

Annual Squadron Cruise

Get your boat and crew ready for the Annual Squadron Cruise. Our destination will be decided at the end of this year but will include some beautiful spots chosen for overnight anchorage. 

The Cruise is designed for families and is a mix of social and sailing events.  Races will start late in the morning and courses are set to allow a mid-afternoon finish. 

Sailing boats and Motor Cruisers are both welcome to enter for some or all days of the program.

The Notice of Race and Entry Form will be available in February 2011.

LOTS Program

The Ladies On The Sea sailing program runs bi- annual at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, with intakes in August and February.
