Light and late winds favour backmarkers

A day of light winds with a major late change of direction favoured boats at the back of the fleet in Saturday’s heat seven of the Squadron Winter Series on Sydney Harbour.

The race began in a light 8 knot westerly breeze that continued to fade away to virtually nothing before a seabreeze moved down the harbour, lifting slowly from 5 to 8 knots and backing from ENE to NE and finally from the North.

Polish Match Racing Tour

Squadron skipper David Chapman had another strong performance at the Polish Match Racing Tour 2009.

Finishing second in Hel, he went on to win the Sopot Match Racing Cup last weekend.

The Squadron Youth Development team of Jordan Reece, Jaidan Stevens, Amy Lee and Lilly Taylor finished in third place at the Navionics Match Racing regatta, hosted at the CYCA last Saturday.

Interclub Challenge Series

Part 2

The Squadron Youth Development Group dominated the second Interclub Challenge regatta that

was staged at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron last Sunday.

Six races were successfully completed in tricky wind conditions and it was Nicholas Howe, with his team of Kate Lindsay, Makayla Whitton and Tim Newman, who took first place whilst Henry Tilly's team Antonia Watson, Carla Sexton and Sam Kool finished in second.

LOTS 2009 Sailing program
