Three Australian teams from the RSYS fleet contested the Worlds in Denmark, with the Olympic crew from the RSYS of Krystal Weir, Karyn Gojnich and Angela Farrell already at the Olympic sailing venue at Quingdao.

Top performer among the RSYS teams at the Worlds was the crew of David Chapman, Tom Scardifield and Hugh Harrington,  who finished 11th overall in the Yngling European Youth Championships and 37th in the World Championships.

In the Worlds, sailed over 10 races with just one discard, Chapman scored two 12th places in the highly competitive fleet.

Another youth team, comprising Jordan, Alan and Michael Reece, placed 43rd while Chris Harper, Jan Harper and Jake Spangler,  finished 46th after notching up a 12th in the opening race.

The World title went to the Netherlands skipper Tom Otte, who came from third place going into the final day of race to beat fellow Dutch sailor Hidde-Jan Haven, with third place going to the Canadian Jennifer and her all-women crew.   Europeans sailors dominated the top 30 places.

The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron will host the Yngling World Championship in 2012.
