Anthony Coleman’s J35 Euphoria certainly gave the skipper and his crew a real sense of euphoria with a double victory in Saturday’ second race of the Squadron’s Winter Series, taking out the double in Division 1.

Division 1 boats on the start

A growing fleet of 25 boats enjoyed an afternoon of light weather sailing with the breeze ranging in direction from WNW to SSE and in strength from 7 knot at noon to 2 knots at 14:00 hours and 9 knots by 15:30 hours. Tricky conditions for all!

Euphoria followed her line honours win and third on corrected time in race one with a runaway line honours victory on Saturday that resulted in a 6 minute 25 second winning margin on corrected time.

Second place went to Arcturus II (Peter Davenport), third to race one winner Campeador (Jonathan & Mary Threlfall).

Australia Day Regatta management committee chairman and noted amateur photographer John Jeremy was rewarded for missing the opening race to take some fine images for the website by a Division 2 win on Saturday in his East Coast 31 Tingari.

Tingari finished second across the line to Len Burtenshaw’s  Lahaina II and on corrected time won the race from Aurelia II (Norman & Thomas Longworth), third place going to Lahaina II.

Only three of the six starters in the Non-Spinnaker division finished the course, with Enigma (Gary Connery) winning from Limelight (Alan Husband) and Crackerjack (Chris Harper & Dennis Galvin).
