With just one Saturday race remaining to be sailed by most divisions and classes, the Squadron sailing office has applied all five discards to the Main Series pointscore and the two discards to the Summer Series. There have been some interesting changes.
In Division 1, Charles Curran’s Sydney retains her status as number one of the leaderboard in the Main Series with a net 73 points, but Ian MacDiarmid’s Hell Razor has jumped from sixth to second place with 77 points. Willyama (R Barron/S Sanlorenzo/T Stanley) and Jackie Clare (Geoff & Debbie Davidsons) are now equal second on 79 points while Equinox (John Molyneaux & Peter Bray) is on 81 points.
Sydney (35 points) leads the IRC Series from ISuper (Peter Campbell) on 43 points and Jackie Clare (45 points) while in the Summer Series Jackie Clare is on 19 points, just three points clear of Equiknox and Hell Razor, both with 22 points.
In Division 2, the lead of Peter Davenport’s Arcturus II (38 points) has been reduced to just two points by Ambitious (David Matthews) with alouette (John Waring) on 44 points. Ambitious leads the Summer Series on 8 points, with Arcturus II and Campeador (Jonathan & Mary Threlfall) both on 16 points.
In Division 3 the leader board has narrowed to just two points after discards, with John Jeremy’s Tingari still holding top position on 60 points from Brian Collis and Stephen Wall’s Wallop on 62 points and Come By Chance (John Nutt) on 70 points. In the Summer Series, Tingari (14) leads by just one point from Wallop (15) with Bloodhood (A Rodger & M Shaw) and Senta (Terry & Julie Clarke) both on 23 points.
The Main Series leadership has changed in Division 3, due to placings last Saturday and the five drop race application. Hornblower (Peter Campbell & Steve Sweeney) placed second on Saturday and with discards is now on 48 points, reversing the lead of Brother Hood (Tony Craven & Jack Rigg) which is now on 49 points after placing third on Saturday. Third overall is Kerstin II (John Bowman/Ken Chase/John Goldie) on 58 points. In the Summer Series, Hornblower is now equal first on 12 points with Alicia (Andrew McPherson) with Brother Hood third overall on 14 points.
The International Etchells completed their club racing last Saturday, with little chance to overall standings. Final standings in the Main Series were: Bushfire (Jervis Till) 21.7 points, Humpback (Stephen Barlow & Peter Gardner) 38 points, Alchemist (Richard Hammond & Roger Gain) 47.86 points, Special Mention (Mark Anderson & David Griffith) 63 points and Yarrawa (Tony Brown) 70 points.
Alchemist won a close-fought Summer Series, finishing with 6 points, second place going to Ganesh (Steven Tracy & Ian Porter) 8 points, followed by Bushfire 11.25, Special Mention and Jazasa (Jan Muysten) both on 13 points.
The Etchells will sail a final Mini Regatta on Saturday for the Port Jackson Championship and the Eaton Cup.
The five discards only confirmed the domination of the International Dragon class by Carl Ryves’ Sidewinder which goes into Saturday final race of the Main Series on 21 points. In second place, on 67 points was Liquidity (Richard Franklin & Damien Hannes) with Imagination (Martin Cooper) third on 72 points, just one point clear Indulgence (Robert Alpe) on 73 points.
Sidewinder leads the Summer Series on 7 points with Imagination on 20, Liquidity 22, Wizzardry (David Mason & Andrew York) 26 points and Tatsu (Wolf Breit) 29 points.
The International Yngling class did not race last Saturday, with the final race of the Main Series and Summer Series this coming Saturday. Pourquoi (Hamish Jarrett) has an unbeatable lead from Uncanny (Mel Nathan & Michael Nash) and Black Adder (Gary Pearce) in the Main Scratch Series while Troika (Ruth McCann& Frederico Lauro) head the Main Series (handicap) from Uncanny and Schadenfreude (Daniel Marley).
