The Squadron’s Winter Series resumed on Saturday after a two-week break, with the crews of 18 boats enjoying the Winter Solstice afloat on Sydney Harbour.
With six of the 11 Winter Series races now sailed, competition is possibly the only thing really warming up, although the days will be longer on future weekends and perhaps the weather finer.
Ian MacDiarmid scored his first win of the series in Division 1 on Saturday with
Hell Razor, but consistent sailing has taken him to the top of the pointscore with 10 points after one discard, just three ahead of Peter Campbell’s ISuper, which finished second to Hell Razor on Saturday.

Third overall in Division 1, on 23 points, is Anthony Coleman’s Euphoria.
Only five boats turned out in Division 2, with just three finishing the course, Kupu Gila (John Anstey) winning from Kerstin II (John Bowman/Ken Chase/Julian Goldie) and Abracadabra (Nicholas Hogg & John Marty).
After six races, Kupu Gila heads the Division 2 pointscore on 11 points after one discard, with Kerstin II on 18 points and Norman & Thomas Longworth’s Aurelia II on 27 points.
In the Non Spinnaker division, Caroline la Douce (Peter Jones & Graeme Smith) scored her first win in of the Winter Series, beating series leader Limelight (Alan Husband) and Crackajack (Chris Harper & Dennis Galvin).
Limelight leads the pointscore on 8 points from Crackajack on 13 and Enigma (Gary Connery) on 14 points.
