Veteran ocean racing yacht Inch by Winch made a winning return to harbour racing in Saturday’s Winter Series, scoring a comfortable victory for owner/skipper Andrew Wenham in Division 1.
Built in 1981 as a contender for the Admiral’s Cup, Inch by Winch had a successful ocean racing career, including top placings in Sydney Gold Coast Races and a win in the Gosford to Lord Howe Island Race, before being retired to the Whitsundays.
In 2007 the Peterson 44 returned to Sydney under the ownership of Andrew Wenham and underwent an extensive refit for another ocean racing career which has included completing in last year Sydney Gold Coast Race.
In Saturday’s RSYS Winter Series, Inch by Winch won on corrected time from Ian MacDiarmid’s Hell Razor and the consistent Euphoria (Anthony Coleman) which also got fastest time.
In Division 2, first place went to Cool (Philippe Odouard) by just 25 seconds from the previous Saturday’s winner, John Jeremy’s Tingari, which also had fastest time. Third place went to Kupu Gila (John Anstey).
In the Non-Spinnaker division, Alan Husband’s Limelight took the double, winning on corrected time from Enigma (Garry Connery) and Crackerjack (Chris Harper & Dennis Galvin).
