The RSYS Etchells fleet was represented by two boats at the Queensland championship over the weekend, testing the waters of Brisbane’s Moreton Bay where the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron will conduct the Australian title in January.
Unfortunately, lack of wind on Saturday reduced the series to five races, the winner being former World champion Peter McNeill from the Lake Macquarie fleet, sailing Koolong X.

David Clark, sailing Fifteen from the Sydney fleet, won the first race on Friday and followed this with a sixth and a seventh. Yesterday, he had a 15th and a fourth to finish fourth overall.
Jervis Tilley, sailing Bushfire, missed the first race on Friday and the last race yesterday, placing 17-5-7 in the three races in between.
McNeill won the championship from Queenslanders Racer XY (Jason Muir) and Magpie (Graeme Taylor). Dr Evil (Jake Gunther, Vic), Valsheda (Alastiar Gair, NZL) and Triad (John Bertrand) followed in that order. – Peter Campbell
