Notice of Race for 173rd Australia Day Regatta now available online.

The Notice of Race and Entry Form the 173rd Australia Day Regatta is now available online from the websites of the Australia Day Regatta, the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron and Sydney Amateur Sailing Club for the traditional regatta on Sydney Harbour.

Yachts block entered for the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s short ocean race to Botany Bay and return on Australia Day must also submit a specific entry to be eligible for the Australia Day Trophies, including the Geoff Lee Trophy for line honours and the City of Sydney Sesquicentenary Trophy for overall winner on PHS handicaps.

More than a hundred cruiser/racer and one-design yachts, classic yachts,  traditional and modern 18-footers are expected to compete in the 173rd Australia Day Regatta,  while between 40 and 50 ocean racing boats will race to Botany Bay and return.

The regatta is the oldest continuously conducted sailing regatta in the world and will be held on Australia Day, Monday, 26 January 2009.  The Commonwealth Private bank is again sponsoring the regatta.

In addition, clubs on Lake Macquarie,  Brisbane Waters,  Pittwater, Lake Illawarra and Botany Bay are conducting special Australia Day regattas in conjunction with the other 173rd Australia Day Regatta,  as are clubs at Lane Cove, Hunters Hill, Manly and Rose Bay.

The colorful 173rd Australia Day Regatta program is also available from all major yacht and sailing clubs in Sydney, containing special feature articles including a report on the regatta One Hundred Years Ago.
